It was a cloudy but fairly warm morning with a strong rising south-westerly wind (hard return) so there were not many PBs, times generally being at least 3 minutes slower than last year.

THANKS to every one who helped to make this a successful event, especially the officials and marshals all of whom also had to place signs, and to my wife Janet for doing the catering single-handedly yet again.

Despite the fact that Peter has managed to lose some weight, there is still too much of him to be able to make significant inroads into an exceptionally strong headwind. However he was pleased with his time of 24:17 on a difficult afternoon in Hampshire.

A very windy morning and the riders had no aero kit so doubly hard. Tony Marriott who has been riding a road bike all season won ahead of fast Barry. Steve Watson was 3rd. Usual fast boys Phil and Peter were 4th and 5th respectively

Although this was promoted as a "50", it was run as a "25" due to roadworks on the course. What a good decision! The wind was a challenge all by itself. Despite returning in 27 mins, the out time of 34+ resulted in a time of 1:01:06.

Phil recorded a time of 24:55 in the main event, won by Michael Hutchinson, whilst Merv's time was 27:40 in the middlemarkers section. As he recovers from his period of illness and inactivity MP's times will come down and show what an exceptional rider that he is.

A Westerly slowed the return leg on the E64. Most riders were about a minute slower than the previous week.

Merv continued his return to racing with times gradually improving. He recorded a 27.27 on the Leighton Buzzard course. 

Peter will probably have to take himself a bit more seriously as a time trialler from now on as he recorded a PB of 57:48 on the E2. For the first time he experienced the so-called favoured wind direction, by being blown back from halfway. Meanwhile Phil's time of 58:08 shows that he has returned to form.

Merv made his comeback after illness with 28:53.

A cross wind which didn’t hamper or aid the riders. Peter Walton took his second win.

Peter's time at 5 miles was 13:30. He finished with a time of 24:12. That probably is enough to give a good indication of the wind speed on a fine, but very blowy afternoon just west of Cambridge.

Barry opened his account with 1:21:16 on a very hilly and technical course based at Gt Hormead. The course was shortened slightly due to roadworks, but he gained the points that he needed.

Phil's time of 1:00:47 was enough to renew his faith in his time-trialling after a difficult couple of weeks.

Clive took part in the Medium Gear 25 mile TT (86"Restricted) section and finished with a time of 1:05:55. It was his first time on the course and he is getting in some reasonable early season times.

A great morning warm and very little wind saw some fast times. Nick Cramer took his first win.

A race within a race. On a warm but quite windy afternoon that made maintaining any speed very difficult, Clive took part in the Medium Gear 25 mile TT (72"Restricted) section and finished with a time of 1:04:32. Phil rode as one of the 120 riders who had a qualifying time of under 1 hour and completed the course in 1:03:54. Peter rode at the end with the other reserves after the organiser realised he was allowed to put more riders on the road. His time of 58:41 was his first inside the hour

A beshingled Peter took part in this event. After warming up he discovered that he had lost his car key (card). Searching the road, and with the car unlocked, he realised that he was running short of time and in his haste slipped and wrenched his hip. He arrived at the start with 40 seconds to spare. He rode the event in 1:05:55, a not particularly memorable time. He then, with the help of many others, went to find his card. Embarrassingly he then discovered that the card had been with him all the time, albeit caught between his leggings and his skin-suit.

A cold night with a strong west wind made for a tough night for the riders and the time-keepers. We welcomed two non-Wheelers one of whom had the temerity to win, the other punctured on the final bend. Peter W continued his run of strong performances with a win in 24:20.

Brian (24:13) trumped Peter (25:03), Phil (25:04) and Merv (29:14) on a very windy and cold A11. The crosswinds made the bikes more difficult to control but Brian coped the best.
