Category 2 ride led by Nathan Brede

Our first proper ride of 2020  - hurrah! Five members rode today out to the Shaw’s Corner/ Ayot St. Lawrence area, over 55 miles, at an average speed of 17.1 mph with 2280 ft of climbing. The south west wind blew at 19 mph. We also rode through 5 major road floods up to 2ft deep!

Overall, the team rode really well and worked great together, chain ganging into headwinds. Hopefully everyone enjoyed my mystery route; I think it would be an excellent summer ride. Looking forward to next category 2 ride.

Category 5 ride led by John Farnham

The plan for the day was to go to Hatfield Heath but The Village Tearoom was already fully booked so we moved to plan B which was nosebags at The Box in Sawbridgeworth. A strong westerly wind blow us out through Much Hadham, Spellbrook and Hatfield Forest but it was increasingly in our faces through Hatfield Broad Oak, Matching and Sheering. We managed to squeeze all 11 of us into a very full 'Box', who were just about coping with the sheer number of hungry punters - both cyclists and civilians. The shorter return leg was a fight into the wind more or less all the way back through Allen's Green, Much Hadham and Wareside to Ware. 41 miles, no punctures, mechanicals or tumbles.

Category 6 ride led by Mike East

Riders numbering the first double digit prime number gathered in Hertford. The group made its way to the south of Codicote, then Welwyn. A serious climb up to Ayot St Peter’s and a puncture followed before arrival at the garden centre cafe. We crow barred ourselves between a gaggle of Bishops Stortford CC riders. The way home took in Knebworth, Datchworth and Tewin before a speedy thrash along the B1000. 30 miles in intermittent sunshine, and best of all, Franco happy with his jam portion.
