Cat 5 run led by John F
6 Wheelers rolled out into the mist from Ware through Wareside, Bakers End, Much Hadham where we got overtaken by the Cat 3 group speeding off to Reed. Over the bridge at Hadham Ford and up the hill to Green Tye, Allens Green, Sawbridgeworth, Lower Sheering where Sarah left us to go home for a lunch appointment. Onward via Sheering, Matching Tye, Matching Green to Village Tearoom at Hatfield Heath. Unusually the tearoom was not full of sweaty cyclists (apart from us) but a large family group had filled most of the tables. However we were fairly quickly fed and watered and onto our return leg now in the sunshine via Ryes Lane, Hatfield Forest, Spellbrook, Green Tye, Much Hadham, Bakers End, Wareside back to Ware. 42 miles.

Cat 6 run led by Danny H
After a magnificent performance by last year's winner ( whoever that was) the new season kicked off today with a cat 6 ride out to stapleford abbotts airfield. 16 began the advertised 35 miler and it soon began to dawn on them that it might end up being a bit further than that. This and the fact that I managed to put in the route, every hill possible started the moaning and it continued all the way to our destination. Man up people!!.
Thankfully the service and food at our cafe stop was bang on and feeling refreshed we made our way back towards HQ. Bruno's spotted dick did seem to weigh him down a little on the return journey and we were not sure whether to pour on the cream or rub it in to the affected organ. There were no volunteers for the latter unfortunately.
Although there were a couple of more hills on the return leg to face, we made good speed and with the sun now shining arrived back at base minus a few who had made their way home. No punctures or problems.
