Yet again the heavens opened up over Essex. I was met by Lee Anderson and Jonathan Dove (who had set off even earlier and had already done 30ish miles in the dry!). I gave them a choice of either doing a club run or just going home and keeping dry.
We decided to do a revised ride by not stopping at a café for tea and cake but by just doing a non-stop ride due to the weather. So we did a 38 mile loop around the lanes of the flat lands of Essex. The roads were kind to us with no mechanicals or punctures and we made it home for around midday to dry off.
I still think you Hertfordshire boys are scared of venturing into the Essex!!

Eight wheelers and two come and try riders set off slightly late due to Danny N forgetting his shoes. His Sweeny style driving however made sure it wasn't too long a delay and the ride began in bad weather that turned atrocious after about five minutes. This continued all the way to the café where we found out that the inside was full and the only seating available was under an umbrella outside. Everyone, apart from me, had decided to dress as if it was summer time (what made them think that! ) and sat shivering under blankets - even though according to Sarah B it was brightening up.
After waiting half an hour for the drinks to arrive we decided to skip the food and make haste back to base. Fortunately we only had one minor mechanical and, spurred on by the thought of warm houses and bacon sarnies, we made good speed on the return.
I know it's not up to me but today's riders should deserve double points, well everyone except Peter W of course. Lol.
(PW - Now what have I done)?
