Category 3 ride led by Graham Knight

It was dry(ish), then it was wet, then I had a puncture, then it was wet and cold. However, Café Amigo did us proud with some welcome hot food.

On the way back it was dry and there was a tail wind. So it was all great really!

Category 6 ride led by Carolyn Kelleway

We woke up but the sun wasn’t shining. It was yet again a day to test the waterproofs!

I thought I’d be the only rider especially as Whatsapp was buzzing with drop outs. But no, there were four hardy riders at the official start time. I came up with a cunning plan to avoid Ware High Street and all the roadworks, but that meant we lost Graham who was a bit late but he was super speedy and caught us up along Ware Road. Phew!

Things we going swimmingly (no pun intended) until David started spewing white stuff from his rear wheel. David’s previous fix had failed! But Pete came to the rescue and after two, yes two, plugs were inserted and tyre re-inflated, off we went. Immediately we bumped into Amanda on the side of the road. Fortunately she had just repaired a puncture so we didn’t have to help!

Ride leader at this point was getting a bit jittery as we were going to be late for our booking at Spokes. After a quick call, all was good.

We arrived absolutely soaked through, but the fire was very welcome and Kevin’s jacket started to create nice rain clouds inside the room.

Food and coffee delivered quickly and we were off again into the rain. Yes more rain. Spokes was a great venue.

Nice easy ride home and two North Roaders joined us for a friendly chat.

Thanks everyone.

Maybe the sun will shine next time.
