A beshingled Peter took part in this event. After warming up he discovered that he had lost his car key (card). Searching the road, and with the car unlocked, he realised that he was running short of time and in his haste slipped and wrenched his hip. He arrived at the start with 40 seconds to spare. He rode the event in 1:05:55, a not particularly memorable time. He then, with the help of many others, went to find his card. Embarrassingly he then discovered that the card had been with him all the time, albeit caught between his leggings and his skin-suit. Afterwards, on arrival at the Event HQ, he realised that all had found the undulating, windy course difficult and that slowish times were the norm. M Hutchinson timed at 51:21 and only another four riders broke the hour. All of a sudden his time looked quite good and gave him cause for optimism for the (hopefully deshingled) season ahead.
