Welcome to the Hertfordshire Wheelers.

The Hertfordshire Wheelers Cycling Club has been established in the East Herts area since July 1928 - thus making us one of the oldest established cycling clubs in Hertfordshire. The club has members from throughout the area including Cheshunt, Hertford, Ware, Stevenage and Much Hadham. Members take part in a variety of cycling activities including, road-racing, time-trialling, track-racing, audax and sportives. Each Sunday a "club run" takes place. This is a ride of 35-50 miles through the lanes of Hertfordshire and Essex taking in a refreshment stop in a café or pub.

NewJim Cann's Cycle Tour

On the 15th April at the St Margaretsbury Sports & Social Club, Jim Cann will be giving a slide-show presentation on "2000km in search of Mount Cook on the land of the long white cloud". This is about his cycle tour of the south island of New Zealand.

Basic Mechanics by Rob Godfrey

Rob Godfrey, manager of Marshall's Cycles (Hertford) came to the St Margarets Sports & Social Club (25\02\10) in order to give a talk on preventative maintenance and cycle care. Showing great enthusiam and knowledge he demonstrated some of the basic concepts regarding tyre changing, cable adjusting and how to set up brakes and gears. Much of the evening was devoted to a Q&A session where he excelled not only with the simple questions but also the highly technical ones.

Wheelers' Members' Forum

The forum is available to members for general discussion about the club (don't forget to log in!). There are also instructions on how to subscribe and use the forum.

Family Membership

As part of a simplification of membership fees the Wheelers have introduced a family membership. From next year £30 will cover two partners plus all their children under 18. See here for full details of Wheelers membership.

Invitation Rides

Photo of Club run

Throughout the summer the Wheelers organise a series of "Invitation Rides". These are shorter than our normal club runs and are purely social and leisure rides open to anyone who cares to join in - members and non-members alike. The last ride of 2009 attracted 19 Wheelers and guests. All enjoyed an easy-paced 25 mile round-trip to Braughing Church Hall for tea and cakes. Why not join us next year? Watch this website for our 2010 schedule.

Meanwhile, if you are considering joining us you may like to sample one of our normal club runs. Please contact us first though.
