London-Edinburgh-London 1430km Audax

I'd entered for this event way back and all my training this year was geared to this.  Then s**t happened.  For a month I nursed the somewhat dubious belief that I could still do this but common sense eventually prevailed and I withdrew, and ended up as a volunteer at Brampton (near Hadrian's Wall).  Then Alex said he also wanted to be part of it, so we left on Sunday for a 6 hour drive oop norf!
From leaving home at 11:00 on Sunday to returning at 21:00 on Thursday I lost all track of time and space.  Days & nights became as one with an occasional hour's sleep as 1500-1600 riders passed through both ways. Busy, or what!
A truly exhilarating experience and having ridden LEL before I'm still not sure whether riding or volunteering was the most arduous option.  PW.
