Cat 3 run led by Nathan B
Eight riders turned up for my first ride out as leader and we headed off towards Whitwell in a round about way.  Wadesmill to Hare Street was full of fun & we were absolutely flying with the wind behind us; we then hit Wyddial, where there were head winds all the way to Weston which myself & my merry crew tried to laugh off and take in our stride.  Onwards to Preston Hill where there was more tears than laughter.  With a short stop for much needed tea at Vanstones in Codicote, we set off again, fully fuelled to Datchworth and onto Bramfield before home to Ware.  We completed 52 miles and suffered only one puncture.  Well done my merry crew, it was tough but fun!

Cat 6 run led by (Capt) Bob B
Only nine turned up for this short run to Church Farm, Ardeley. Perhaps the blustery conditions were responsible.
One rider felt too ill to continue on reaching Datchworth and two others kindly volunteered to escort him back to Hertford. The remaining six freewheeled down to Watton and then took the route up High Elms Lane to Benington before regaining the Watton – Walkern road just before the latter. Good quick service (and great food) at Church Farm and then back into the wind for home. Interesting, isn’t it that everyone stays behind the leader when riding in to a headwind?
We turned right towards Aston , Bragbury End and then up to Datchworth (and, with the headwind, it really was up). Then it was plain sailing back to Hertford.
No punctures or mechanicals.
