Cat 6 run led By Bob B
Where do I begin to tell the story?….
16 souls set of in lovely conditions in the eventual direction of Church Farm Ardeley, led by Capt. Bob who was confident in the knowledge that he had personally been along on the previous Friday to book the venue. Out via Datchworth, Bragbury End, Aston, Benington, a bit of off road, Walkern (including “Franco’s” Ford) before the more athletic in the group (and Bruno) struck out for the café, but didn’t take the route intended by the leader. What this did do though, was get them a seat in the café while Capt Bob was pointing out the lovely windmill to the ladies. When the official party arrived it was to find that the advance party had beaten Bishop’s Stortford CC and North Road CC to the seats but there were now none left. Having tried the pub across the road (not open until 12) most of the ladies in the party decided to set off home, as they didn’t require sustenance (and it had started raining). Patrick and guest Paul had already decided to go straight home. Wendy turned up on her new Trek Silque bike (it’s nice Wendy!) having done double the mileage to get there, ‘cos she can, and Paul Ryman also arrived direct from home. Having eventually been served, and it now raining continuously, the remnants of the group decided to opt for the direct route back to Hertford. Martin T and Paul R headed straight for their respective homes (who can blame them) and Wendy wandered wither she wanted.

Cat 5 run led by John F
Our annual tour of north Essex and west Suffolk drew 5 participants to the start at Thaxted who then proceeded via Great Sampford, Radwinter, Ashdon, Bartlow, West Wickham, Carlton, Great Bradley, Cowlinge to Adams Café at Stradishall - a popular motor bikers café but also welcoming to cyclists. Return through Stradishall village, Hundon, Kedington -where 2 of our party overlooked club run rule no.1 and missed the turning in the village and were not seen again until Thaxted. The remaining trio continued via Sturmer, Steeple Bumpstead, Tinkers Green, Little Sampford back to Thaxted. 51 miles. The forecast showers for the middle of the day turned out to be a longer period of rain affecting about half the ride but was fortunately never too heavy.

Cat 3 run led by Steve Mc
It was a wet Cat 3 Club ride today. It was a very enjoyable ride despite the rain. There was hardly any wind and warm temperatures made it bearable. 11 riders and one puncture.
