Club Run Reports Sunday 4th September 2016

Cat 6 run led by Mike E
After a lull in participation during the holiday season, fifteen vibrant riders sought autumnal bike heaven on the ride to the outskirts of Luton. (How often do you find Luton and heaven in the same sentence?). No navigational issues arose this week on a route via Whitwell. The golf centre was welcoming.  The return journey took in Kimpton and Codicote. No issues to report over 36 miles

Cat 3 run led by Graham K
Twelve started out from Hertford on the Cat 3 (and one from Ware). The route was
pretty much due north which meant we were spared the worst effects of the strong
westerly breeze. After Walkern we headed to Baldock via Weston then took the nice
open road through Bygrave to Ashwell; here the breeze helped us on the climbs.
Miraculously we arrived at Ashwell just as Barry, the Ware starter, was heading
across our path (he really should pay attention to the club run schedule!). We then
took the long route to Farrowby Farm via Dunton. Some probably wondered when on
earth we would get there as the outward run consumed 32 of the advertised 55 miles.

Farrowby were handicapped as their coffee machine was u/s - so service was a bit
slow. Still, that gave us more time to observe the budgies and the pigs. Due south
on the return, this time via Rushden and Ardeley. It was good to see Peter
Bloomfield out again on a Cat 3 and coping well after his broken collar-bone. Nice
too to welcome guest Paul who was trying us for size.
