Category 6 ride led by Mike East

Amazingly the 15 who set out from Ware to Bishops Stortford were all accounted for by the finish of the ride. One ran out of puff early on and went off to do his own thing. Near Albury three ignored the right turn and sped off to the Scottish border. Bruno, a true knight of the road, made contact, waited for them to turn round at Jedburgh and got them to the Mocha cafe. Meanwhile, the main peloton split into two because of the delays, and arrived at the cafe separately. All made it there, including the first casualty, who had followed the easier route. The group took a more straightforward and closely monitored ride back to Ware for 1 pm. 31 miles on a lovely day, marred only by the increased traffic on the country lanes because the A120 was closed beyond Little Hadham.

Category 3 ride led by Barry Page

Nine riders set off into a brisk northerly breeze, out via Hunsdon to Furneux Pelham where we passed the category 6 group looking for lost riders! The sun shone brightly as we faced  the full north wind over the hill to Snow End but eased as we turned to Anstey. We ventured through Nuthampstead to Barkway, Smiths End and our café in Royston. After fixing a flat we left up the hill to Therfield, then Sandon and downhill to Buntingford, made a little easier by a strong tailwind.
