Club 72" Restricted Gear 10 (Re-scheduled)
Hertfordshire Wheelers’ 72” restricted gear 10 mile time trial took place on Sunday in beautiful sunny conditions, a complete contrast to the situation three weeks previously when the event had to be called off due to dangerous weather conditions. Even in the sunshine Sunday’s weather was very windy which affected the times achieved and tested the competitors, forcing them to work very hard indeed.
Thirteen riders took part on the F6a/10 circuit at Cole Green with ten riding to the restricted gear formula and three electing to ride unrestricted and therefore not being placed. The winner was Gareth Wignall in a time of 24mins 47seconds, Paul Stewart came second with 27:02 and Barry Page was third in 28:08. Gareth has taken over this year as Racing Secretary and thanked all those who turned out and made a good start to the Time Trial season, with special thanks to Bob Brown, the Wheelers regular timekeeper.
