Riding on the E2 course on the A14 near Newmarket Gareth Wignall completed his first 50 mile TT in a time of 1 hour 47 minutes and 45 seconds – an average speed of 27.8 mph. Given his inexperience at this distance this is a remarkable achievement. No doubt there is more to come!
This comfortably broke Tim Dobson’s club record of 1 hour 52 minutes and 20 seconds set in 1978 (well before the era of aero aids!). Tim, a former junior 25 mile record holder, is still an active member of the Wheelers.
