About Hertfordshire Wheelers
Our history
The Club was formed in July 1928 with its first ride starting from the The Blackbirds public house in the middle of Hertford thus making us one of the oldest established cycling clubs in Hertfordshire. 2008 was our 80th anniversary and to celebrate this very special occasion we had an anniversary ride which started at the same pub.
Some of our activities are set out below. Why not join us?
Club runs
These are social rides that take place every Sunday throughout the year
from locations mainly in East Herts.

Racing
From March to October we run regular (mainly weekday evening) Club time
trials on local courses. Some riders also compete in bunch start racing
on public roads and also on closed track events.

Audax and sportives
These are increasingly popular non-competitive rides over a set course which has to be completed in a stated time. Popular distances are 100km to 200 km but can be much longer. We organise our own four Audax rides over distances of 50, 100, 150 and 200km. Members also take part in audax and sportive rides throughout the country.
Clubroom and social
Members meet each Thursday from about 8.15pm onwards at St. Margaretsbury
Sports and Social Club.
